රජයේ පාසල්වල අටදහස්‌ හත්සිය අසූහතකට වඩා වැඩි විදුහල්පති පුරප්පාඩු සංඛ්‍යාවක්‌ ඇතැයි අධ්‍යාපන නියෝජ්‍ය ඇමැති විජිත් විජිතමුණි සොයිසා මහතා ඊයේ (08 දා) පාර්ලිමේන්තුවේදී ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

මෙම පුරප්පාඩු පිරවීම සඳහා දක්‍ෂ පක්‍ෂ අය තෝරා ගැනීමට කාලෝචිතව පියවර ගන්නා බවද නියෝජ්‍ය ඇමැතිවරයා පැවැසුවේය.

දැනට පාසල්වල වැඩබලන විදුහල්පතිවරුන් 2767 ක්‌ සිටින බව ද විදුහල්පතිවරුන් විශ්‍රාම ගන්නා අවස්‌ථාවේදී ඔවුන් විසින් ම පාසල් පාලනය කළ හැකි දක්‍ෂ උගත් අයකුට වැඩ බාර දී තිබෙන බව ද කී ඇමැතිවරයා එසේ බාරගත් අය වසර ගණනාවක සිට කළ සේවය හා උගත්කම මත ස්‌ථිර කිරීම යුක්‌ති සහගත බව ද කීය.

දැනට වැඩබලන විදුහල්පතිවරුන් මෙන්ම අධිකරණ තීන්දුව මත විභාගය සමත් වී පත්වීම් ලැබීමට නියමිත අයට ද විදුහල්පති තනතුරු ලබා දීමේ හැකියාව ඇතැයි නියෝජ්‍ය ඇමැතිවරයා ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

මාතර දිස්‌ත්‍රික්‌ එ.ජාප. මන්ත්‍රී බුද්ධික පතිරණ මහතා ඇසූ පැනයකට පිළිතුරු ලෙස අධ්‍යාපන නියෝජ්‍ය ඇමැතිවරයා ඉහත ප්‍රකාශය කළේය.

Over 8,787 schools headless, House told

Over 8,787 government schools do not have principals, Parliament was told yesterday.

Deputy Minister of Education Vijith Vijayamuni Soysa told Parliament that his ministry had initiated a programme to fill those vacancies but the process was time consuming as it was necessary to select qualified and competent persons for those posts.

Currently, 8,767 schools are managed by acting principals, the minister said adding that those acting principals had been selected for those positions by the outgoing principals. Most of the time when principals retire from service, they appoint somebody senior with the ability to run the school. Some of those acting principals have held the position for decades.

The Deputy Minister said that action would be taken to appoint principals from those who had passed their competent examinations following a Court order and promote acting principals to the vacant positions.
