Under Uva Udanaya project: Nearly 180 families to benefit from electricity

Thennakoon Bandara - Monaragala Daily News Corr

A new electricity scheme has been launched in Siyabalanduwa Divisional Secretariat area in Moneragala under the “Uva Udanaya” project recently.

Accordingly, 180 families in Ruhunudanauwa and the 6th Mile Post villagers who were once in the dark for a long time would benefit.

Addressing the gathering at the inauguration meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr. Sumedha G.Jayasena said “with the leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the government would formulate a mechanism and many more development projects would be initiated in the remotest corners of the country, which could be acclaimed as one such project .

In the past, we have experienced the brutality of terrorism and I myself had witnessed it in areas such as Kotiyagala and Okkampitiya in Moneragala.

Yet, with the dawn of peace, we now have the opportunity of living in peace and harmony.

So it is high time that we extend our fullest support to strengthen the government from power hungry elements who attempts to paralyze the smooth running of the government with the help of Western allies.

A sum of Rs18 million has been earmarked for this project by the Ministry of Economic Development.

Uva Provincial Road Development Minister Kumarasiri Rathnayaka, Siyabalanduwa Pradeshiya Saba Members Chandrapala Weerasingha and Ananda Darmatilaka, also addressed the meeting.
