දේශපාලන බලය පෙන්නා අන්සතු ඉඩම් හොරෙන් අල්ලා ගනු ලබන විවිධ පළාත්වල සිටින පුද්ගලයන් පිළිබඳව තොරතුරු ගලා එමින් පවතින බව ජනාධිපති ලේකම් ලලිත් වීරතුංග මහතා "දිවයින" ට ඊයේ (17 දා) ප්රකාශ කළේය.
මෙම වැරදි වැඩ කරන පුද්ගලයන් පිළිබඳ තොරතුරු ලැබුණු බව කී ලලිත් වීරතුංග මහතා මීට දින කීපයකට පමණ පෙරදී තමාගේ පුතකු බව පෙනී සිට පොලිසිය නොමඟ යෑවූ පුද්ගලයා මහනුවර ප්රදේශයෙන් රුපියල් දහනවදාහක මුදලක් වංචා කර ඇති බව දැනගැනීමට ලැබුණු බව ද කීවේය.
ආරක්ෂක ලේකම් ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂ මහතා ජනතාවගෙන් කළ ඉල්ලීමකින් පසු මෙම තොරතුරු මෙසේ ගලා එන බව ද ලලිත් වීරතුංග මහතා සඳහන් කළේය.
තමාගේ නම විකුණා සමහරු විවිධ ජාවාරම් කරන බව ද ඒ මහතා කීවේය.
පෙර කී සැකකරු තමාගේ නම විකුණා දුරකථනයෙන් පොලිස් නිලධාරියාට කතා කළ මොහොතේම පරීක්ෂා කළේ නම් පොලිසිය නොමග නොයන බව ද ඔහු කීවේය.
තත්ත්වය මෙසේ තිබියදී මිරිහාන ප්රදේශයේ කාන්තාවක් ද තමාගේ නම විකුණා රුපියල් ලක්ෂ පහක මුදලක් වංචා කර ඇතැයි කීවේය. එක්තරා පුද්ගලයකු මෑතකදී සර් සල්ලි ගත්තාට තාම අර වැඩේ හරි ගියේ නැහැ යෑයි තමාට දුරකථනයෙන් ප්රකාශ කිරීමෙන් පසු නම විකුණා මුදල් වංචා කළ එම කාන්තාව ද පොලිස් බාරයට පත්වූ බව කීවාය.
මේ අතර මීට මාස කීපයකට පමණ උඩදී ජනාධිපති කාර්යාලයේ සේවය කළ සම්බන්ධීකරණ නිලධාරියකු ඔහු ජනාධිපති ලේකම්වරයා බව කියමින් පොලිස් රැකවරණ මැද ගමන් කර ඇති බවත් මේ පිළිබඳව කළ පරීක්ෂණවලින් පසු ඔහු සේවයෙන් ඉවත් කර ඇති බවත් වීරතුංග මහතා කීවේය.
මේ ආකාරයට විවිධ පුද්ගලයෝ තමාගේ හොඳ නම කැළල් වන ආකාරයට මෙසේ ක්රියා කරන අතර එවැනි පුද්ගලයන්ට හසු නොවන ලෙස ජනතාවගෙන් ඉල්ලීමක් කරන බව ද ලලිත් වීරතුංග මහතා පැවසීය.

Complaints of land grabs on the rise - Weeratunga

There had been an increase in the number of complaints pertaining to persons pretending to have political backing and illegally grabbing other people’s properties, President’s Secretary Lalith Weeratunga disclosed yesterday.
He said that following an appeal made by Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa for the public to reveal instances of illegal land grabbing, the police had received a great deal of information. Things had deteriorated to such an extent that there were people even using his (Weeratunga’s) name to get illegal things done.
"A few days ago a person impersonating me phoned a senior police officer in Kegalle requesting police protection for his son", Weeratunga said
The same person, he said had earlier cheated a person out of Rs.19,000 in the Kandy area using his name.
Similarly, a woman using his name had cheated a person of Rs 500,000 in the Mirihana area on the promise of sending him abroad. The incident came to light when the victim phoned the President’s Secretary and said, "Sir I paid the money, but I have still not got the job abroad", Weeratunga said.
In another incident a coordinating officer at the Presidential Secretariat obtained police security for his vehicle by claiming that the President’s Secretary was travelling in it. He was later removed.
Weeratunga, too, appealed to the public not to fall prey to criminal elements who impersonated him.
