අවතැන්වූ මුස්ලිම් පවුල් පදිංචිකරවීම සඳහා විල්පත්තු අභයභූමිය ආශ්රිතව පිහිටි වනසංරක්ෂණ දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ පාලනය යටතේ පවතින කැලෑ ඉඩම් අක්කර 2388 ක් පැවරීමට එරෙහිව ශ්රී ලංකා හරිත ව්යාපාරය ගොනු කළ පෙත්සමේ වගඋත්තර කරුවන් උසාවි කැඳවා විභාගයක් පවත්වනවාද නැද්ද යන්න පිළිබඳව තීරණයක් ගැනීම අභියාචනාධිකරණය විසින් ලබන ජුනි 14 ට කල් තබන ලදී.
පෙත්සම පිළිබඳ සම්පූර්ණ විභාගයක් පවත්වා අවසන් වන තෙක් එකී ඉඩම් පැවරීම අතිහිටුවන්නැයි පෙත්සමෙන් කර තිබූ ඉල්ලීම ගැනද එදින තීරණයක් ගන්නා බවද අභියාචනාධිකරණය සඳහන් කළේය.
අභියාචනාධිකරණ විනිසුරු චන්ද්රd ජයතිලක මහතා හමුවේ ඊයේ මෙම පෙත්සම සලකා බලන ලදී.
අධිනීතිඥ ශාන්ත ජයවර්ධන මහතා හරිත ව්යාපාරය වෙනුවෙන් කරුණු ඉදිරිපත් කළේය. පෙත්සමෙන් කියා සිටියේ රක්ෂිත ඉඩම් නිවාස ඉදිකිරීම සඳහා පැවරීමට හෝ අන්සතු කිරීමට වන සංරක්ෂක අධ්යක්ෂ ජනරාල්වරයාට නීතියෙන් බලයක් නැති බවයි.
එම ඉඩම් එළිපෙහෙළි කිරීමෙන් පරිසරයට හා ජෛව විවිධත්වයට බලවත් හානියක් සිදුවන බවත් ඉපැරණි පුරාවස්තූන් විනාශවන බවත් අලි මිනිස් ගැටුම් තව තවත් උග්රවන බවත් පෙත්සමෙන් වැඩිදුරටත් කියා සිටී.
වනසංරක්ෂක අධ්යක්ෂ ජනරාල් අනුර සතරසිංහ, පුරාවිද්යා කොමසාරිස් ජනරාල් ආචාර්ය සෙනරත් දිසානායක කර්මාන්ත සංවර්ධන ඇමැති රිෂාඩ් බද්යුදීන් ඇතුළු 10 ක් පෙත්සමේ වගඋත්තරකරුවන් ලෙස නම්කර ඇත.

Order on Green Movement challenge

The Court of Appeal, yesterday, fixed for May 21, 2014 the order in respect of the issue of notice and the granting of interim relief as regards the Writ Application filed by the Green Movement of Sri Lanka, citing as respondents the Minster of Environment and Renewable Energy, the Conservator of Forests and a few other officials.
The petitioner has complained that 2,500 acres of forests land in Mullathivu, Vavuniya and Mannar district are to be allocated for the resettling of Muslims. The Conservator of Forests, by letter dated February 14, 2014, had directed the District Secretaries of the areas concerned. The petitioner wants the letter quashed by Court order and the decision to allocate forest land prohibited by the Court.
The petitioner has said that deforestation will have a harmful effect on the environmental balance and wildlife will be destroyed.
Yesterday the petition was supported by Counsel Shantha Jayawardene. The Bench comprised Justice P. W. D. C. Jayathillake.
