The Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Ministry spent Rs. 110 million for development activities in the fisheries industry in the Kalutara district under the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) project, said Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne.
The minister was addressing a loan distribution ceremony at the Beruwala Divisional Secretariat,recently.
The programme was organized by the Post Tsunami Coastal Rehabilitation and Resource Management Programme with the financial assistance of the IFAD project. The minister distributed over Rs. 4 million among 75 fisheries women at Beruwala. Rs. 1,380 million will be allocated to provide drinking water for the Beruwala electorate.
Rs. 200 million has also been allocated for road development activities in the electorate, he said.
The minister also opened a newly built Sewa Piyasa at Raladinigama and Rs. 1.3 million has been spent on this.
