A new stores complex costing Rs 295 million is to be erected in the Anuradhapura district concurrent to the Deyata Kirula Exhibition to enhance existing storage facilities for the paddy harvest in the district.
This will enable the PMB to stock an additional 31,000 metric tons of paddy from the maha season this year said Anuradhapura Additional GA Kulatunga Hettiarachchi.
He said a 120,000 square ft store room will be built adjacent to the Deyata Kirula exhibition ground at a cost of Rs 250 million. It will facilitate 25,000 metric tons of paddy.
Another store room with a 1000 metric ton capacity will be built at Pemaduwa at a cost of Rs 25 million.
Apart from this the PMB store rooms at Bulnewa, Rambewa, Rajangane, Tambuttegama, Thalawa and Galenbedunuwewa will be repaired at a cost of Rs 8 million provided by the Treasury.
