Another seven minor water reservoirs in Mahaoya, Ampara area will be renovated under the Rambaken Oya Irrigation Project, an Irrigation and Water Management Ministry spokesman said.

These seven minor water reservoirs are Polwatte tank, Pollebedde tank, Nilobe tank, Kiralagas wewa, Dumana wewa, Bendirekka wewa and Akulobe wewa. Around 2,300 landless families will be resettled under the Rambaken Oya Irrigation Project.
Around 2,500 farming families will be provided benefits under this. Around 1,500 families will be provided assistance to grow subsidiary crops and begin other industries.
The Rambaken Oya reservoir has been made by building a dam across Mundeni Aru. The catchment area of the reservoir is 130 square kilometres. The capacity of the reservoir is 56 million cubic metres. The project is part of the Mahaweli development project.
Rambaken Oya is one of the three tributaries of the Mundeni Aru. Two other are Mahaoya and Gallodai Aru.
