Dengue update: 11th July

Over 900 dengue patients detected in first week of July

The Health Ministry Epidemiology Unit statistics revealed that 909 dengue patients have been reported islandwide during the first week of July.

Five persons had died due to dengue during last week.

Colombo District is the worst affected by the dengue epidemic so far, and 475 dengue cases have been reported last week alone.

Hundred dengue patients have been reported from Gampaha while 51 patients were reported in Galle last week. Altogether 11,110 dengue cases have been reported in the island since the beginning of this year with a total of 82 deaths. Of this number 4331 dengue patients and 31 deaths were from Colombo.

Statistics show that dengue is spreading throughout the island. Last Month, 3404 persons were hospitalized due to dengue. The Unit requests active public support to curb dengue.
