මීට වසර කීපයකට පෙර ශ්රී ලංකාවේ වියළි කලාපවල තදින් ක්රියාත්මක වූ මැලේරියා මදුරු වසංගතය විනාශ කිරීමට මුල්වූ මැලේරියා මර්දන ව්යාපාරය ඩෙංගු මදුරු වසංගතය මැඩලීමට ද ඉදිරිපත්වී සිටියි.
මැලේරියා මර්දන ව්යාපාරය ඉතා සාර්ථක ලෙස මැලේරියා වසංගතය නිමකර ඇති අතර එම පළාත්වල මැලේරියා රෝගීන් පිළිබඳව කලාතුරකින් අසන්නට ලැබෙන නමුත් මැලේරියා රෝගයෙන් මරණ වාර්තාවී නැතැයි සෞඛ්ය අමාත්යංශයේ ප්රකාශකයකු "දිවයින"ට පැවසීය.
මැලේරියා වසංගතය නැති කළ ආකාරයට ඩෙංගු වසංගතය නැති කිරීම සඳහා විවිධ ක්රමවේද ක්රියාත්මක කරන බව සෞඛ්ය අමාත්යාංශය කියයි.
