කල් ඉකුත්වීමේ දිනය වෙනස් කර උත්සව සමයේ වෙළෙඳපොළට නිකුත් කිරීමට සූදානම් කර තිබූ මිනිස් පරිභෝජනයට නුසුදුසු සහල් කිලෝ ග්රෑම් 7980 ක් පාරිභෝගික සේවා අධිකාරියේ නිලධාරීන් විසින් ඊයේ (7) අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් බව සමුපකාර හා අභ්‍යන්තර වෙළෙඳ කටයුතු අමාත්‍ය ජොන්ස්ටන් ප්‍රනාන්දු මහතා පවසයි.

කොළඹ 5 වන හරස් වීදියේ මහා පරිමාණ ව්‍යාපාරික ස්ථානයක සඟවා තිබූ මෙම සහල් තොගය ඇසුරුමෙහි පිටත සඳහන් කල් ඉකුත් වීමේ දිනය වෙනස් කර වෙළෙඳ පොළට නිකුත් කිරීමට සූදානම් කර තිබුණි.

තවද කොළඹ පරණ යොන් වීදියේ සිදු කළ තවත් වැටලීමකදී කල් ඉකුත් වූ පරිප්පු කිලෝ ග්රෑම් 5300 ක් ද කල් ඉකුත් වූ සියඹලා කිලෝ ග්රෑම් 750 ක්ද පාරිභෝගික සේවා අධිකාරිය අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන තිබුණි.

උත්සව සමයේ අත්‍යවශ්‍ය භාණ්ඩ වෙළෙඳපොළට නිකුත් නොකරන සහ ඒවා සඟවා තබා ගන්නා වෙළෙඳුන් සොයා පාරිභෝගික සේවා අධිකාරියේ විශේෂ වැටලීම් ඒකකය ක්ෂණිකව ක්‍රියාත්මක කරන ලෙසත් ප්‍රමිතියෙන් තොර භාණ්ඩ වෙළෙඳපළට පැමිණීම වළක්වන ලෙසත් එම අධිකාරියේ සභාපති රූම් මර්ෂුක් මහතාට අමාත්‍යවරයා නියෝග කර ඇත.

Over 7,900 kgs of rice unfit for human consumption detected

The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) yesterday during a raid conducted on a shop at Fifth Cross Street, Pettah detected a consignment of rice weighing over 7,980 kilogrammes which was unfit for human consumption.

Officials said that the consignment was about to be released to the market after altering the expiry date, when CAA officials conducted the raid.

The Authority has increased the number of raids conducted in Colombo and the suburbs to prevent essential commodities that are unsuitable for human consumption being released to the market. Regular raids are also being conducted to prevent wholesale dealers from hoarding stocks in order to create an artificial shortage in the open market during the festive season. The raids are being conducted on the directive of Cooperative and Internal Trade Minister Johnston Fernando.

In another raid, CAA officials recently detected 5,300 kilograms of outdated dhal and 25 sacks of tamarind weighing 25 kilogrammes in Pettah.
