දිවයින පුරා පවතින අධික වැසි සහිත කාලගුණයත් සමග ප්‍රදේශ කිහිපයක නායයෑම් අවදානම ද පවතින බව ජාතික ගොඩනැගිලි පර්යේෂණ ආයතනය අවධාරණය කරයි.
විශේෂයෙන් මධ්‍යම කඳුකරයේ සහ දකුණු පළාතට මෙම තත්ත්වය බලපෑ හැකි බැවින් ජනතාව මේ පිළිබඳව අවධානයෙන් පසුවිය යුතු යැයි එම ආයතනය පවසයි.
මේ අතර දෙණියාය ප්‍රදේශයේ පෙරේදා (18) හටගත් නායයාමක් හේතුවෙන් එහි පදිංචි පවුල් 18ක් සිය නිවාසවලින් ඉවත් කර තිබේ.
දිවයිනට බලපා තිබෙන වැසි සහිත කාලගුණික තත්ත්වය ඉදිරි දිනවලදී පැවැතිය හැකි යැයි කාලගුණ විද්‍යා දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව පවසයි.
ගිගුරුම් සහිත වැසි ඇති අවස්ථාවල දී ගිනිකොණ, දකුණු හා නිරිත දිග මුහුදු ප්‍රදේශ තරමක රළු ස්වභාවයක් ගතහැකි බවද කාලගුණ විද්‍යාඥ පී.ජී. යසරත් මහතා පැවැසීය.

NBRO warns people to be on alert for landslides

The National Buildings Research Organization (NBRO) has alerted the public living in landslide prone areas, of the Southern and Central regions, to be vigilant in view of the inclement weather being experienced in the country.
Following a landslide on the Ensalwatte Estate in Deniyaya, causing damage to a house on Wednesday (18), nearly twenty families have been temporarily evacuated.
Steps have been taken to evacuate some families from the Viharahena in Deniyaya and Selvakanda due to landslide threats.
Galle District Geologist E. R. Bandula told The Island yesterday (19) that there was a possibility of heavy rains triggering landslides in some areas.
He said that residents of areas prone to landslide, such as Kotapola and Pasgoda, have also been called upon to be on alert.
