The Environment Ministry ceremoniously launched a new website to provide quick response to the environmental issues and to facilitate connectivity with the public.

Implementing the trilingual policy of the government, the new website has information in all three languages; Sinhala, Tamil and English.

The web address is www.environmentmin.gov.lk. Simultaneous to the ministry website, a personal website of the minister was also launched at the occasion under the address www.anurapriyadarshanayapa.com. The minister stated that he hoped to connect with the people directly through these websites and requested to send complaints, suggestions and proposals to the email addresses provided in the websites.

The ministry website also features all details and contact information of affiliated institutions of the ministry. It caters to the vision Green Country- A Clean Environment.

The minister also appreciated constructive criticisms and investigative features on environmental issues by print and electronic media such as incidents of illegal felling of trees and environmental pollution, stating that these greatly helped to take immediate action against offen- ders without any undue delay.

He also stated that President Mahinda Rajapaksa has extended full support when necessary in environmental conservation activities.

The minister also pointed out that the ministry works in coordination with other ministries and stakeholders while providing consultation to adopt green policies.
