ඉන්දියාවේ සුනාමි අනතුරු ඇඟවීමේ කුළුන ඉන්දීය මුහුදේ තිබී සොරකම් කරගෙන ගිය ගන්දර ප්‍රදේශයේ ධීවරයන් පස්‌ දෙනෙකු මාතර කොට්‌ඨාසයේ නොවිසිඳුනු අපරාධ ඒකකය මගින් අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන ඇත.
මුළු ලොවටම වටිනා මෙම කුළුන මසුන් ඇල්ලීමට ගිය මොහොතේ කපාගෙන ගොස්‌ ගන්දර ප්‍රදේශයට රැගෙන යැමෙන් පසු පොලිසිය මෙම කුළුන සොයාගනු ලැබිණි. මාතර ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ පොලිස්‌ අධිකාරි දේශබන්දු තෙන්නකෝන් මහතාගේ මෙහෙයවීම යටතේ එම පොලිස්‌ ඒකකයේ ස්‌ථානාධිපති පොලිස්‌ පරීක්‍ෂක විපුල දසනායක මහතා විසින් මෙම වැටලීම සිදුකර ඇත.

Five fishermen arrested over theft of tsunami warning antenna

The Unsolved Crimes Unit of the Matara police yesterday arrested five fishermen from Gandara for their alleged role in stealing a costly antenna which was attached to an Indian tsunami warning system mounted on a buoy last month.
It is alleged that they had brought home the antenna having stolen it in high seas and later hid it in a shrub in the Gandara area.
The police recovered the antenna from Seethawella on March 27 afternoon on information provided by Indian officials to NARA that they had tracked it to a location in Sri Lanka
The antenna worth millions of rupees is expected to be handed back to India shortly.
The operation to recover the antenna and the arrest of suspects was carried out under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon.
