An industrial zone will be established in a 500-acre land centred on the Pulmudai Mineral Sand Factory. The proposal is to be presented to President Mahinda Rajapaksa for approval, said State Resources and Enterprise Development Minister Dayasritha Tissera.
He was addressing a meeting at the ministry recently. The Pulmudai Mineral Sands Factory is also to set up a new factory at a cost of US $ 70 million to extend its services.
The Ceylon Mineral Sands Corporation recorded a net profit of Rs.1,111 million last year and they are set to record a net profit of Rs.7,000 million in the current year. RD
