KANDY: The Central Province Health Ministry has planned to sterilise 13,000 bitches, during the forthcoming year, as a measure to control hydrophobia in the Province.
The Provincial Health Ministry has allocated Rs. 10 million for the project.
Central Province Health Ministry Secretary (Ms) Shirani Weerakoon states that it has become necessary to educate the people of the province on the programme as their cooperation was essential in the implementation of the project.
Accordingly, a publicity programme would be launched with the patronage of the Central Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa and Central Province Health Minister Sunil K. Amaratunge, Mrs. Weerakoon said.
