පළමු ළිඳට කි.මී. 38ක් දුරින් තවත් ගෑස් ළිඳක් හමුවෙයි

මන්නාරම් ද්‍රෝණියේ සිදු කෙරෙන තෙල් කැනීමේ කටයුතුවලදී දෙවන ගෑස් නිධිය සොයා ගත් බව නිල වශයෙන් රජයට දැනුම් දෙයි. තෙල් කැනීම් කටයුතුවල නිරත කෙයාත් ලංකා පුද්ගලික සමාගම මේ බව ඛනිජ තෙල් සම්පත් සංවර්ධන ලේකම් කාර්යාලය වෙත නිල වශයෙන් දැනුම් දී තිබේ.

මේ දෙවන තෙල් ළිඳ පළමු තෙල් ළිඳට කිලෝ මීටර් 38 ක් දුරින් පිහිටා ඇත. මන්නාරම ද්‍රෝණිය ආශි‍්‍රත මුහුදේ එස්. එල්. 2007-01–001:3 බැරකුඩා 1/ජී1 ලෙස නම් කොට ඇති මේ ළිඳෙහි ජලයෙහි ගැඹුර මීටර් 1509 ක් වන අතර එහි මුළු ගැඹුර මීටර 4700 ක් වේ.

ළිඳෙහි මීටර් 4067 ත් 4206 ත් අතර මීටර් 24 ක වපසරියක ගෑස් නිධි විහිදී ඇතැයි සැක කෙරේ.

තෙල් කැනීම්වල නිරත නෞකාව හැකි ඉක්මනින් මේ ස්ථානය වෙත ළඟා වීමට නියමිත අතර මේ නිධියෙහි වාණිජ වටිනාකම නිවැරදිව තක්සේරු කිරීමට ප්‍රථම තවදුරටත් කැනීම්වල නිරත වීමට නියමිත ය.

පළමු තෙල් ළිඳ සොයා ගැනීම පිළිබඳ තොරතුරු පසුගිය ඔක්තෝබර් මස ජනාධිපති මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතා වෙත දැනුම් දෙන ලදී. මේ බව මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතාට දළදා මාලිගාවේ දී නිල වශයෙන් දැනුම් දුන්නේ ය.

Discovery of second natural gas well

The Petroleum Resources Development Secretariat has received a further discovery notice over the weekend from Cairn Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, the operators of Sri Lanka’s second exploration well in the Mannar Basin, a release from the President’s Media Division said. This well, the Barracuda 1/G-1, was drilled to a depth of over 4,700m in a water depth of 1,509m in Block SL 2007-01-001.

Three petroleum bearing formations were encountered between 4,067 and 4,206m, comprising a gross pay of 24m and containing gas with further indication of liquid hydrocarbons. The Barracuda well is 38 km from the first discovery well Dorado, and approximately 60km from west coast.

The drillship Chikyu will shortly be moving to the next well location. Further drilling is expected before the commerciality of the prospects discovered are accurately assessed.

Cairn India Ltd, a subsidiary of Cairn Energy Plc, in October informed President Mahinda Rajapaksa that there are very favourable and strong indications of the presence of oil in the region.
