විදුලි සේවක පහළොස්‌දහසක්‌ හෙට ලෙඩ නිවාඩු දැමීම අනිවාර්යයි

විදුලිබල මණ්‌ඩල සේවකයන් පහළොස්‌දහසකට ආසන්න පිරිසක්‌ හෙට (11 වැනිදා) අනිවාර්යයෙන් ලෙඩ නිවාඩු දමන බව ලංවීම ඒකාබද්ධ වෘත්තිය සමිති සංවිධානය පවසයි. ප්‍රධාන කාර්යාලය මෙන්ම ප්‍රාදේශීය කාර්යාලවල කටයුතු ඒ අනුව අඩපන වන අතර විදුලි බිඳ වැටීම් වුවද යථා තත්ත්වයට පත් කිරීමට සෑහෙන වේලාවක්‌ ගතවීමට ඉඩ ඇතැයි වෘත්තීය සමිති සංවිධානයේ කමිටු සාමාජික රංජන් ජයලාල් මහතා "දිවයින"ට පැවසීය.

ලංකා විදුලිබල මණ්‌ඩලයේ වැටුප් විෂමතා ප්‍රශ්නය පිළිබඳව සඳහන් කරමින් පසුගිය 05 වැනිදා විදුලි පණිවුඩ පහළොස්‌දහසක්‌ පමණ ජනාධිපතිවරයාට යෑවූ බවත් ඇතැම් අය වෘත්තීය සමිති ක්‍රියා මාර්ගවලට අවලාද නගමින් ප්‍රකෝපකාරී මත පළ කරමින් සිටින බවත් හෙතෙම සඳහන් කරයි.

කෙසේ වෙතත් ලබන 18 වැනිදා රැස්‌වී වැඩවර්ජන ක්‍රියාමාර්ගයක්‌ පිළිබඳ තීරණය කරන බවත් 1996 සිටම විදුලිබල මණ්‌ඩලයේ වැටුප් විෂමතා ප්‍රශ්නය උග්‍ර වන බවත් ජයලාල් මහතා තව දුරටත් කියා සිටියේය.

Nearly 15,000 CEB workers to fall sick tomorrow

 Nearly 15,000 non-executive employees belonging to United Trade Union Front of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) yesterday decided to report sick tomorrow (April 11) demanding a 25-per-cent pay hike.

More than 25 trade unions, including the JVP backed Lanka Viduli Sevaka Sangamaya would participate in the campaign.

United Trade Union Front General Secretary, H. A. Ranjan Jayalal of the JVP told The Island: "It is not our intention to make more than four million consumers suffer during the festive season. But we have to fight this grave injustice."

Jayalal said that if a power failure occurred on April 11, it would take a long time to be restored and the government should take full responsibility if that happened.

He said: "We are demanding a 20 per cent pay hike because we were given only 25 per cent when we requested a 45 per cent hike.

The executives, too, got the said amount but now they had increased their amount by another 20 per cent or more.

CEB insiders, however, said that without the backing of the powerful engineers’ union a strike by lower rungers, despite their huge numbers was unlikely to affect the power supply.

He said that with the increased ratio, the General Manager now had got a pay hike of 45 per cent apart from other benefits while others like the Additional General Managers had been given a nearly 50 per cent salary increase.
