කොළඹ – මාතර අධිවේගී මාර්ගයේ ගාල්ල සිට මාතර දක්වා කොටසේ ඉදි කිරීම් ලබන වසරේ අපි‍්‍රයෙල් මාසය වන විට නිමවීමට නියමිත බව මහා මාර්ග අමාත්‍යාංශයේ ලේකම් ඩබ්ලිව්. කේ. ප්‍රේමසිරි මහතා පැවසීය.

මෙහි කටයුතුවල ප්‍රගතිය සම්බන්ධයෙන් ජනාධිපති මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතා කළ විමසීමකට පිළිතුරු වශයෙන් ලේකම්වරයා මෙසේ පැවසීය. අධිවේගී මාර්ගය ගාල්ලට පැමිණියත් මාතරට තවම නාවේ කුමක් නිසාදැයි ජනාධිපතිවරයා ප්‍රශ්න කර සිටියේ මාතර දිස්ත්‍රික් සංවර්ධන කමිටු රැස්වීමට ඊයේ (03) එක්වෙමිනි. කොන්ත්‍රාත් ගිවිසුම අනුව අපි‍්‍රයෙල් මස වන විට නිමවීමට නියමිත අතර ඉන් මසක් ඇතුළත අනිවාර්යෙන්ම එහි කටයුතු නිමවන බව ලේකම්වරයා කීවේය.

මාතර සිට බෙලිඅත්ත දක්වා ඉදිකිරීමට යෝජිත දුම්රිය මාර්ගයේ ප්‍රගතිය සම්බන්ධයෙන් ජනාධිපතිවරයා කළ විමසීමකට පිළිතුරු වශයෙන් දුම්රිය දෙපාර්තමේන්තු නිලධාරීන් ප්‍ර‍්‍රකාශ කළේ එහි ඉඩම් අත්පත් කර ගැනීම් සහ සැලසුම් අවසන් කර ඇති බවයි.

මේ මාර්ගය සම්බන්ධ ණය ගිවිසුමේ යම් ප්‍රමාදයක් තිබූ අතර එය දැන් විසඳාගෙන ඇති අතර ගිවිසුමට අනුව වසර තුනක් තුළ මාර්ගය ඉදිකළ යුතු බවත් සැලසුම් අනුමත කිරීම සඳහා චීන නියෝජිතයන් සති දෙකක් තුළ මෙරටට පැමිණීමට නියමිත බවත් ඔවුහු පෙන්වා දුන්හ.

Southern Highway: Galle to Matara expansion to be completed by April 2013

The expansion of the Southern Highway from Galle to Matara, which is currently underway is expected to be completed by April 2013.

This was revealed by Ports and Highways Ministry Secretary R.W.R.Premasiri in reply to a question raised by President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Matara District Development Review Meeting held at the District Secretariat yesterday.

The President said that Sri Lanka has made impressive strides in road development during the last few years and predicted further development in the sector.

The section from Galle to Matara would have a length of 35km.There are plans to extend the Southern Highway up to Hambantota connecting the Mattala International Airport which is being constructed.The length of this section is expected to be 75km.

The Southern Highway, Sri Lanka's first ever access controlled expressway from Kottawa to Pinnaduwa (Galle) was ceremonially opened by the President on November 27, 2011. The length of this section is 96km.
