The Kurunegala Municipal Council Health Unit warned all householdes in the town that action would be taken if they did not clean mosquito breeding sites.
The MC spokesperson told the Daily News that at most times the public tend to forget that environmental cleanliness is the most effective way of eliminating dengue. "We have to remind them constantly and carrying out surveys and awareness campaigns are the best ways to do this," he said.
The MC plans to conduct a large-scale campaign involving the MC staff, schoolchildren and Rotarians who will inspect houses in the city, distribute leaflets and enlist the support of the public, he said.
