අල-ලොකු ලූනු-සුදුලූනු ආනයන බදු ඉහළට
ආනයනික ලොකුලූනු, අර්තාපල් හා සුදුලූනු සඳහා අය කරන බදු අගය ඉහළ දැමීමට රජය තීරණය කරයි. ඒ අනුව ආනයනික ලොකුලූනු කිලෝ ග්‍රෑමයක් සඳහා රුපියල් 15 කින්ද, අර්තාපල් කිලෝ ග්‍රෑමයක් සඳහා රුපියල් 5 කින්ද, සුදුලූනු කිලෝ ග්‍රෑමයක් සඳහා රුපියල් 15 කින්ද බදු අගය ඉහළ නංවන බවත් නව බදු අය කිරීම පසුගිය 10 දා සිට බලපැවැත්වෙන බවත් මුදල් හා ක්‍රමසම්පාදන අමාත්‍යාංශය පවසයි.
නව බදු ක්‍රියාමාර්ගය සමඟ ලොකු ලූණු කිලෝ ග්‍රෑමයක් සඳහා බදු මුදල රුපියල් 25 ක්ද අර්තාපල් කිලෝ ග්‍රෑමයක බදු මුදල රුපියල් 35 ක්ද වේ. ඊට අමතරව සුදුලූනු කිලෝ ග්‍රෑමයක් සඳහා වන නව බදු මුදල රුපියල් 25 කි. දේශීය ලොකු ලූනු හා අර්තාපල් අස්වනු නෙළීම ආරම්භ වීමත් සමඟ සැපයුමේ ඉහළ යාම සැළකිල්ලට ගනිමින් මෙය ක්‍රියාත්මක කළ බවත් දේශීය ගොවියා ආරක්ෂා කිරීමේ අරමුණින් එය ක්‍රියාත්මක කරන බවත් මුදල් හා ක්‍රමසම්පාදන අමාත්‍යාංශය කියයි.
මේ අතර එම අමාත්‍යාංශය පෙන්වා දෙන්නේ සුදුලූනු මිල ස්ථාවර මට්ටමක පවත්වාගෙන යාමට සුදුලූනු ආනයනික බදු අගය ඉහළ නැංවූ බවයි. අර්තාපල් හා ලොකුලූනු ආනයනය තාවකාලිකව අත්හිටුවන ලෙසට හෝ ආනයනික බදු ඉහළ දැමීමට පියවර ගන්නා ලෙස ගොවි සංවිධාන හා ගොවි නියෝජිතයන් රජයෙන් කළ ඉල්ලීමට ප්‍රතිචාර දක්වමින් මෙය ක්‍රියාවට නංවා ඇත. වැලිමඩ, ඌව පරණගම, බණ්ඩාරවෙල, හපුතලේ, හාලිඇළ ප්‍රදේශවලින් මෙට්‍රික් ටොන් 65000 ක අර්තාපල් අස්වැන්නක්ද මාතලේ, දඹුල්ල වැනි ප්‍රදේශවලින් එවැනිම ප්‍රමාණයක ලොකුලූනු අස්වැන්නක්ද බලාපොරොත්තු වන බවද මුදල් හා ක්‍රම සම්පාදන අමාත්‍යාංශය පවසයි.

Measures to stabilize potato, b’onion prices

The import tax on potatoes and big onions was raised due to farmers’ demands as it is the harvesting season for these products. A Finance and Planning Ministry spokesman said the supply of locally grown potatoes and big onions will increase in the coming months as a result of a bumper harvest being reaped in many parts of the country.
The government, considering the requests made by farmers decided to increase the import tax on potatoes from Rs.30 to Rs.35 per kilo and big onions from Rs.10 to Rs.25 per kilo with effect from yesterday.
The government increased the import tax on garlic from Rs.10 to Rs. 25 per kilo to stabilize the garlic price in the local market.
The taxes were revised to protect the local farmers considering the fact that a huge supply of potatoes and big onions is expected to flood the market in the coming months.
“The farmer community and several farmer organizations put forward their request to increase the import taxes imposed on potatoes and big onions or for the temporary suspension of imports to the country,” the spokesman said.
“These temporary measures to increase import taxes on certain food items are being taken to stabilize the local prices, and at the same time we will also be protecting the local farmers,” he explained.
A bumper harvest of nearly 65,000 metric tonnes of potatoes is expected from potato planting areas of Welimada, Uva-Paranagama, Bandarawela, Haputhale, Haliela while a bumper big onion harvest is expected from the Matale and Dambulla areas.
