Dengue Update - 14th July (3 items)

Over 11,500 dengue cases upto July

A total of 11,565 dengue cases were reported from all parts of the country by July 12, Health Ministry sources said. According to the sources the number of dengue deaths reported during the past six months is 82. The highest number of dengue cases, 4,506 and 31 deaths had been reported from the Colombo district.

Meanwhile, the Colombo Municipal Council area recorded 1,804 dengue haemorrhagic fever cases and 12 deaths. Gampaha district recorded the second highest dengue cases numbering 1,474 and 12 deaths.

The total dengue cases reported from Kalutara district by July 12 is 659 with five deaths.
A total of 1,356 dengue cases and five deaths were reported during the last 12 days.
A total of 3,412 dengue cases and 14 deaths were reported from all parts of the country last month, the sources said.

Dengue fight: training for PHIs, teachers


The Health Ministry will train PHIs and school teachers from five selected high risk districts on combined vector control management and dengue fever. The PHIs of Matara, Batticaloa, Jaffna, Matale and Kurunegala are to be trained on combined vector control management while school teachers from Gampaha, Puttalam, Matara, Vavuniya and Trincomalee will be trained on identifying schoolchildren with dengue fever, a ministry spokesman said.
According to the spokesman once trained, the schoolteachers will be able to identify schoolchildren with dengue fever and direct them to hospital.


PHIs and teachers of other high risk districts have already received training. WHO is assisting this training programme. MRI is in the process of preparing guidelines on management of dengue fever and DHF. WHO will provide financial assistance to buy another 110 microhematocrit centrifuge machines to carry out blood tests for dengue patients. The ministry has made arrangements to provide internet and email facilities for State hospitals in 65 high risk MOH areas. Twenty four computers were also provided to hospitals.

ඩෙංගු මර්දන පුහුණුව දිගටම

මහජන සෞඛ්‍ය පරීක්ෂකවරුන්ට හා පාසල් ගුරුවරුන්ට ඩෙංගු මර්දන කටයුතු සඳහා දැනුම ලබාදෙන “ඒකාබද්ධ වාහක කළමනාකරණය පිළිබඳ පුහුණු වැඩසටහන” අඛණ්ඩවම ක්‍රියාත්මක කරන බව සෞඛ්‍ය අමාත්‍යාංශය පවසයි.
ඒ අනුව මේ වැඩසටහන ඩෙංගු මදුරුවන් වැඩි වශයෙන් බෝ විය හැකි අවදානම් දිස්ත්‍රික්ක පහ බැගින් තෝරාගෙන ලෝක සෞඛ්‍ය සංවිධානයේ සහාය ඇතිව ක්‍රියාත්මක කෙරේ.

ගම්පහ, පුත්තලම, මාතර, ත්‍රිකුණාමලය, වවුනියාව දිස්ත්‍රික්කවල පාසල් ගුරුවරුන්ටත්, මාතර , මඩකළපුව, යාපනය, මාතලේ , කුරුණෑගල දිස්ත්‍රික්කවල මහජන සෞඛ්‍ය පරීක්ෂකවරුන්ටත් මේ පුහුණුව සාර්ථකව ලබාදීම සිදු කරන බවද සෞඛ්‍ය අමාත්‍යාංශය ප්‍රකාශ කරයි.
