The Special Task Force (STF) has busted a racket in the illegal felling and transporting of timber at Thibolketiya close to the Ratnapura-Embilipitiya main road.
The STF personnel who made the detection were from the Udawalawa camp. Nineteen logs of timber between five feet and twelve feet in length and with an estimated value of about one million rupees were taken into custody.
The STF also seized equipment and machinery used in cutting down trees and sawing the logs of timber.
