"There is no drug shortage in the country. All drugs are freely available at all state hospitals and funds have been provided for the purchase of drugs. If there is a drug shortage in any hospital, it would be artificially created and hospital directors are responsible for such drug shortages," Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena said.
Minister Sirisena said that the required types of drugs are available for all state hospitals.
The minister said there is no shortage and there are funds available to purchase any amount of drugs at any time. There is no shortage of drugs and funds in the country. The recent drug shortage reported from Anuradhapura Teaching hospital was created by a lack of coordination between relevant officials and sections. The matter has now been solved.
