The Rubber Development Department (RDD) has launched a programme to promote rubber cultivation in the Matara district.
Under the programme, rubber has been already cultivated in 50 hectares of new land and replanted in 47 hectares. In addition, 45,761 rubber saplings have also been distributed among the cultivators under the programme, according to the Matara district director of the Rubber Development Department.
