Ceylon Industrial Development Board functioning under the purview of the Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development Ministry has set up a coir based factory in keeping with the national programme for the development of rural industries and production villages.
Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development Minister Douglas Devananda visited this factory set up at the Common Service Centre in Allarai Thenmarachchi on November 14, to observe its performance.
At the meeting held subsequently, the minister addressing the gathering said that it was the bounden duty of all to protect the factory and work towards its progress so that more employment could be generated.
He also said his party, the EPDP and his ministry had contributed a considerable amount of funds towards the establishment of the centre as well as the factory.
