The Economic Development Ministry has launched the 'Hisata Sewana' housing programme simultaneously with the 'Deyata Kirula-2012' exhibition and the ministry has selected the Ceylon Ceramics Corporation to provide around 50 million roofing tiles for this project.
According to State Resources and Enterprise Development Ministry's Secretary Willie Gamage, the Corporation will provide one million roofing tiles at the beginning of next year.
The Ceylon Ceramics Corporation is to provide these roofing tiles from the Elayapaththuwa roofing tiles factory. Factories at Bingiriya, Yatiyana, Embilipitiya, Uswewa, Eragama and Mahiyangana will also meet the requirements.
The Ceylon Ceramics Corporation has been recognized as a non-profitable venture and arrangements have been made to lease the company to the private sector. But still it is under the purview of the State Resources and Enterprise Development Ministry until suitable investors are found. Now the Ceylon Ceramics will immensely benefit due to orders placed on account of the Deyata Kirula exhibition, he said.
