ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ කාන්තා සහ පිsරිමි සමස්‌ත ආයු අපේක්‍ෂාව ඉහළ ගොස්‌ ඇතැයි සෞඛ්‍ය අමාත්‍යාංශය මෑතකදී රැස්‌ කළ තොරතුරු අනුව සනාථ වී ඇත.
ඒ අනුව අවුරුදු 74 ක්‌ ව තිබූ කාන්තාවන්ගේ ආයු අපේක්‍ෂාව අවුරුදු 80 දක්‌වාද? අවුරුදු 71 ක්‌ව තිබූ පිරිමි පුද්ගලයන්ගේ ආයු අපේක්‍ෂාව අවුරුදු 76 දක්‌වාද ඉහළ ගොස්‌ ඇතැයි සෞඛ්‍ය අමාත්‍යාංශ ප්‍රකාශකයෙක්‌ පැවැසුවේය.
ඉදිරි වසර හතළිහ තුළදී ශ්‍රී ලාංකිකයන්ගේ සමස්‌ත ආයු අපේක්‍ෂාව අවුරුදු සියය දක්‌වා ළඟා විය හැකි බවද පැවැසූ එම ප්‍රකාශකයා ආයු අපේක්‍ෂාව මෙසේ ඉහළ යැමට හේතුව මෙරට අංශ ගණනාවක ක්‍රියාත්මක වන සංවර්ධන දර්ශකය බවද පැවැසුවේය.
කෙසේ වෙතත් ආයු අපේක්‍ෂාව ඉහළ යැම නිසා වැඩිහිටි ජනගහනය ඉහළ යැමේ අභියෝගයටද මුහුණ දීමට සිදුවන බැව් කී සෞඛ්‍ය අමාත්‍යංශ ප්‍රකාශකයා මෙම අභියෝගයට මුහුණ දීම සඳහා වැඩිහිටි විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍ය සේවාවන් ඉහළ දැමීමත්, වැඩිහිටියන්ටම වෙන් වූ රෝහල් ස්‌ථාපිත කිරීමටත් සිදුවනු ඇතැයි කීය.

Life expectancy rate of Lankan women, men up

The life expectancy of Sri Lankan women and men has increased up to 80 and 76 years, according to latest Health Ministry statistics, a Health Ministry spokesman said.
According to Wanninayake, Health Ministry Acting Secretary Dr. Palitha Mahipala presented latest facts during a recent ceremony which shows an improvement in health care service and the living standards of people.
It is expected that the average life expectancy rate of Sri Lankans can reached 100 years in the next four decades, if current positive trends continue. Meanwhile, Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena has instructed health officials to gather data and formulate plans and programmes to take care of the increasing elderly population."
The elderly population in the country shows a significant increase with the increasing life expectancy rate and improving health care facilities and living standards", he said.
