Minister of Indigenous Medicine Salinda Dissanayaka has initiated a programme to conduct awareness programmes on the carbonic cultivation of several indigenous varieties of paddy.
The programme would be conducted for farmers in Dehiattahakandiya and Ampara and the paddy varieties chosen, would be Suwadel, Kaluheenati, Suduheenati, Herathbanda and Punchaperumal.
Minister Dissanayaka told The Island that effective awareness programmes on the importance of organic paddy cultivation had been conducted in the Eastern Province.
