The Kandana police Crimes Investigation Division arrested a driver while he was illegally transporting nine cows in a small van to a slaughter house. The animals had been trussed up and crammed into the vehicle.
One cow was found dead inside the van.
Arrangements have been made to institute legal action against the suspect for causing undue harassment to animals.
