Uninterrupted power to North through new transmission project

TheVavuniya Kilinochchi Transmission Project has made sure the continuous electricity supply to the Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu districts. This project has been launched under 'Vadakkin Vasantham' programme with the support of Japan International Cooperation Agency(JICA). The sources said.

Two step-down transformers worth of Rs.3000 Million were brought to Kilinochchi CEB project site. These transformers will step down the Vavuniya supply of 132KV into 33KV. Through this project industrial investors in these areas will gain the benefits as they could get the three phase supply for their Industries from this step down process.

This project is expected to be completed by the end of July 2012.

Around one hundred and twenty thousand people and business societies of Kilinochchi district will benefit from this project. Further another hundred thousand residents of Mullaithivu district will also receive the benefits of this project.

This project is also implemented on a par with the Mahintha Chinthana where President Mahinda Rajapaska has clearly stated that electricity supply will be provided island-wide to prosper the villager's living standards.

The President's vision has been implemented effectively in the Northern Province with the guidance of Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa and Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa.
