Minister Anura Yapa
Environment Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa has been appointed chairman of the Commonwealth Countries Consultative Group on Environment for 2012 and 2013 at its sessions held on February 20 at the United Nations office at Gigiri, Nairobi, Kenya. The minister participated in this meeting representing Sri Lanka. The meeting focused on ocean governance and its role in sustainable development towards a green economy.
The specialty of the meeting is that it takes place within the context of preparations for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20).
