Kandy – The animal Production and Health Department at Peradeniya has issued a warning to the poultry farmers of another deadly disease – but easily curable.
A news release from the Director General, Department of Animal Production and Health States the disease diagnosed as Ranikhet or New Castle could be easily cured by a vaccine mixed with drinking water.
Poultry farmers themselves could obtain the vaccine from the nearest Veterinary office without any payment, the release states.
It is a safe vaccine tested and recommended by laboratories of the department and the vaccine should be given to the birds to prevent farms suffering losses, it warns.
