Around 120 dengue deaths upto last week
Around 120 dengue deaths were reported from all parts of the country by last week. The public should continue to be vigilant and pay special attention to keep their properties and surroundings free of dengue mosquito breeding sites, a Health Ministry spokesman said.The Health Ministry Epidemiology Unit statistics revealed that 15,614 dengue cases had been reported from all parts of the country by August 15.
The highest number of dengue cases - 6,136 had been reported from the Colombo district while the Colombo Municipal Council area recorded 2,043 Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) cases.
Other parts of the Colombo district recorded 4,093 dengue cases. Gampaha, Kalutara and Batticaloa districts recorded 2,340, 836 and 671 dengue cases while Ratnapura and Kurunegala districts recorded 609 dengue cases each.
During last month, 4,765 dengue cases were reported from all parts of the country.
The Health Ministry requested the public to seek immediate treatment from a state hospital or from a qualified and experienced doctor for any type of fever.
