148 jumbo deaths in first half of the year



The Department of Wildlife Conservation (DWC) says that during the first six months of this year 148 jumbo deaths have been reported islandwide mainly due to explosive devices used by hunters, floods and other disasters. 

Out of the total number of deaths, 55 have been reported from the Mahaveli regions. The DWC also states that 21 people have been killed due to jumbo attacks.
