Sugar cane to be cultivated in Kilinochchi
After extensive research it has been found that Kilinochchi area has suitable climatic and other conditions conducive for sugar cultivation and steps have been taken by the Minor Crops Export Ministry to cultivate sugar cane in the district. According to a government press release, the Sugar Cane Research Institute and the Kilinochchi District Secretariat have taken steps to prepare 100 hectares of land to start cultivation within the next two years.
