The formulation of the National Physical Plan relating to the country's physical development upto 2030 has been completed. It will be unveiled by President Mahinda Rajapaksa shortly to educate the people about it said Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa.
He said the National Physical Plan planned upto 2030 included many feature relating to physical development including cities, highways, airports, ports, fishery harbours, forest areas, and environment sensitive areas. The plan was approved by the National Physical Planning Council at a meeting chaired by President Rajapaksa on January 13, 2011 in keeping with Section 3 (1) of the Town and Country Planning Act No. 49 of 2000.
It was drawn up by the Department of National Planning on the guidance of Minister Wimal Weerawansa and the contribution of scientists of various sectors, state officials and Technical analysts.
