Dengue alert from Health Ministry

The Health Ministry Epidemiology Unit requested the public to take necessary precautions to curb dengue with the arrival of inter monsoonal rains in the country. The statistics of the Unit revealed that 299 dengue patients had been reported in the first week of October.
The number of dengue cases reported in September was 2,323. The total number of dengue cases reported over the island from the beginning of this year amounts to 19,774.
Colombo has recorded the highest number of cases followed by Gampaha, Kalutara and Kandy districts. The Health Ministry also conducted a National Mosquito Eradication Week during the first week of October to identify and destroy mosquito breeding places throughout the island.
