Industrial parks in North

The Government will set up small scale industrial parks in the Northern Province early next year, Governor GA Chandrasiri said.

The proposed industrial parks will be set up in Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mannar, Vavuniya and the Mullaitivu districts. Twenty industrial parks will be set up in each district. Priority will be given to local investors and cooperative societies, according to Chandrasiri.

He said that foreign donors will help expedite the project. A large number of unemployed youth in the North will secure employment and the living standards of people will be improved.

A rice mill, pappadam factory, dried fish factory and ice factories will be set up in the park.
