Four Star hotel near Mattala Airport

A Four Star hotel will be constructed close to the Mattala Airport, which will be the country's second international airport.

Work on this project will commence today under the patronage of Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa, Civil Aviation Minister Priyankara Jayaratna and Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa.

The four star, 200 roomed hotel complete with modern facilities will include a roof-top swimming pool, gymnasiums, auditoriums, squash and tennis courts, mini golf, kiddies play area and coffee shop among others. The hotel will also include a multi-purpose banquet hall which can accommodate up to 500 participants. A separate area will house a mini shopping mall. Business centres and travel and taxi counters will also be available.

Uva Leisure Resorts is the investor of the hotel. According to the developer, the hotel will be developed as an 'Eco-friendly paradise'. Uva Leisure Resorts will consider environmental considerations when planning and constructing.

Most of the garbage of the hotel will be incinerated and the balance turned into compost as fertilizer. Rainwater will also be used for rainwater harvesting.
