The Special Task Force (STF) busted a timber racket in the Madawala area of Teldeniya and seized seventy nine 'Pihibiya' and 'Kududavula' logs.
It is believed the suspects were involved in the illegal activity for a considerable period of time. The value of the seized timber was yet to be ascertained.
The racket was busted by a team from the Ambakote STF camp led by SI M.J. Bandara under the directions of the Maskeliya ASP Rathepitiya.
The driver of the tipper which was transporting the logs was taken into custody during the raid. Following information gathered from the area and based on a tip-off the STF carried out the raid. The suspect along with the seized logs was handed over to the Teldeniya police and is to be produced before courts.
