GMSL discusses key national environmental issues with the Minister - ජාතික පාරිසරික ගැටලු කිහිපයක් නිරාකරණය සදහා පරිසර අමාත්‍යතුමා සමග සිදු කළ සකච්ඡාව

Green Movement of Sri Lanka had a discussion with the Minister of Environment regarding key national level environmental issues on 6th October 2011. A number of officials participated in this event apart from the Hon. Minister, which includes the Chairman of the CEA, Conservator General of Forests and representatives of other environmental agencies. Mr. Banduranga Kariyawasam of the GMSL presented facts and the situation of the following key issues.
  • Effort to handover Other Forests to Divisional Secretaries
  • Administrative weaknesses in Sinharaja and Knuckles Forests
  • Implementation of National Conservation Review
  • Encroachment of forests in Pidurutalagala, Kandapola and Seethaeliya
  • Timber logging at Thavisamaduwa in Vilpattu area
  • Sinharaja - Illumbakanda- Bambumale Road
  • Golf Project at Soragune Forest
  • Construction of road at Padaviya Reserve
