The Hambantota office of the Wildlife Conservation Department has deployed a special team of employees to drive away monkeys and toque monkeys from the precincts of the Kataragama Sacred Area.
This follows directives issued by Agrarian Services and Wild Life Minister S M Chandrasena to eradicate the monkey menace and make the Kataragama sacred area safe for visiting pilgrims.
