Nine paddy storage complexes have been opened in the Hambantota district to purchase paddy at the certified price of Rs 28 per kilogam.
These complexes have a capacity for 15,000 metric tons of paddy, said PMB Southern Province Regional Manager D S Dissanayaka at the District agriculture committee meeting presided over by Hambantota additional district secretary W A Dharmasiri. He said that101 metric tons of paddy have been bought. If excess stocks are received, they will be transferred to the PMB stores complex at Meddawatta, Matara
