The Irrigation and Water Management Ministry has drawn up plans to construct Morana reservoir under the Nagadeepa Project, Irrigation and Water Management Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva said.
He was addressing the public meeting at Andaulpatha Central Collage to mark the commencing of development projects in Rideemaliyadda.
"The estimated cost for the project which will supply water for irrigation purposes is Rs 6000 million", he said.
"All feasibility studies under the Nagadeepa project have been completed and construction work on the Vilakandiya water reservoir has already commenced", he said.
"The ministry has drawn up plans to renovate small scale reservoirs in this area", he said.
"The ministry has also provided valid sanitary toilet sets among 1,050 families and an excavator machine for development activities in this area", he said. The minister requested the public to dedicate for the development of their families without depending on the government to provide their requirements.
