Noodles have been produced from locally grown kurakkan for the first time in Sri Lanka.
This is an invention of Anuradhapura Post Harvest Technical Institute engineer B D M P Bandara Dissanayake.
Kurakkan noodles is the result of two years of experimentation. It is a 100 percent kurakkan product with several health benefits.
Dissanayake told the Daily News that the first experiment in this regard was in 2010.
He said Rajarata was famous for kurakkan cultivation and the latest invention is bound to benefit the kurakkan farmer.
Kurakkan noodles will be available in 200 gram packs. It was first introduced during the recent Deyata Kirula exhibition in Anuradhapura.
