මහියංගනය - රංජිත් කරුණාවීර
නකල්ස් රක්ෂිතයේ නැගෙනහිර බෑවුමේ ඉහළ කොටස වන නවනගල ප්රදේශයේ පසුගිය 02 වැනි දින දහවල් ගින්නක් හටගත්තේය. එම ගින්න උඩදුම්බර කහටගොල්ල ප්රදේශය දක්වා පැතිර ගොස් තිබිණි. වන සංරක්ෂණ නිලධාරීන්ගේ මැදිහත් වීමෙන් ඊයේ (04 වැනිදා) වන විට ගින්න පැතිරීම නතර කිරීමට හැකිවී තිබේ. එහෙත් නකල්ස් රක්ෂිතයේ අක්කර 15 ක් පමණ ගින්න නිසා විනාශයට පත්වී තිබේ.
ගින්න නිසා රක්ෂිතයේ යටි රෝපණය, කුඩා ජීවීන්, නකල්ස් කඳුවැටියට ආවේනික ගෙඹි විශේෂ විනාශයට පත්වී ඇත. වර්ෂය පුරා නකල්ස් රක්ෂිතය කිහිප වරක් ගින්නෙන් විනාශයට පත්වේ. නකල්ස් රක්ෂිතයේ ගින්න ඡායාරූප ගත කිරීමට ගිය ප්රාදේශීය මාධ්යවේදියකු හට වන සංරක්ෂණ නිලධාරියකු හොඳ හැටි බැණ වැදී ඔහුව අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට උත්සාහ දරා ඇත.

Eastern slope of Knuckles burn

A fire has broken out in the Eastern slope area of the Knuckles Forest Reserve. The forest fire which had spread to the Kahatagolla, Ududumbara area has destroyed around 15 acres of land.
The fire is suspected to have begun from the upper area of the Knuckles Reserve such as Nawanagala on March 2 and later spread to the Kahatagolla area. It had destroyed some flora and fauna of the forest reserve.
Residents with the assistance of Wildlife conservation department authorities were struggling to extinguish the fire.
