ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ බිහිවූ ජාතික ඖෂධ ප්‍රතිපත්තිය ලොව සෙසු රටවල් විසින් ක්‍රියාත්මක කරද්දී එය ක්‍රියාත්මක නොවන රටක්‌ වශයෙන් ශ්‍රී ලංකාව තවදුරටත් පැවැතීම කනගාටුවට කරුණක්‌ බව රජයේ වෛද්‍ය නිලධාරීන්ගේ සංගමයේ සභාපති වෛද්‍ය අනුරුද්ධ පාදෙනිය මහතා ඊයේ (05 දා) පැවැසීය. දැනට සකස්‌ කර අවසන් කර ඇති ජාතික ඖෂධ ප්‍රතිපත්තිය වහාම ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීමට සෞඛ්‍ය බලධාරීන් විසින් කටයුතු කළ යුතු බව කී වෛද්‍ය පාදෙනිය දැනට රටට බෙහෙත් ගෙන්වීමේදී වැය කෙරෙන අතිවිශාල මුදල මෙන්ම මෙරටට ගෙන්වන බෙහෙත් ප්‍රමාණය ද සීමා කිරීමට එම ප්‍රතිපත්තිය හරහා අවස්‌ථාව උදාවන බව අවධාරණය කළේය.

වසර ගණනාවක්‌ මුළුල්ලේ ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීම ප්‍රමාද වෙමින් පවතින ඖෂධ ප්‍රතිපත්තිය පෙබරවාරි මස අවසන්වීමට පෙර පාර්ලිමේන්තුව වෙත ඉදිරිපත් කරන බව සෞඛ්‍ය ඇමැති මෛත්‍රිපාල සිරිසේන මහතා විසින් ඉකුත් ජනවාරි මාසයේදී ප්‍රකාශ කර තිබිණි.

ඖෂධ ප්‍රතිපත්තිය ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීම සෞඛ්‍ය අමාත්‍යාංශයේ වගකීමක්‌ බව පෙන්වා දෙන වෛද්‍ය පාදෙනිය රජයේ රෝහල් ගණනාවක අත්‍යවශ්‍ය බෙහෙත් වර්ග හිඟව පැවැතීම නිසා රෝගී ජනතාව දුෂ්කරතාවන්ට පත්ව ඇතැයි සඳහන් කළේය.

රජයේ වෛද්‍ය නිලධාරීන්ගේ සංගම් මූලස්‌ථානයේ ඊයේ (5 දා) පැවැති ප්‍රවෘත්ති සාකච්ඡාවකදී ඔහු මෙම කරුණු අනාවරණය කළේය.

GMOA laments non-implementation of Nat. Drug policy

The Government Medical Officers’ Association yesterday lamented at the fact that Sri Lanka continues to be among nations without a national drug policy.

"This is sad given the fact that the importance of having a national drug policy was introduced to the world by a Sri Lankan and many other nations adopted such policies and benefited by doing so," GMOA Chairman Dr Anurudhha Padeniya told a media conference at the GMOA head office in Colombo.

He said that a national drug policy for Sri Lanka had already been formulated and it was the duty and responsibility of the health ministry to implement it. Had it been implemented years ago, soon after its formulation, the country could have saved billions in foreign exchange and the quantity of imported drugs would have been very low.

Dr. Padeniya said that incumbent Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena went on records saying that the National Drug Policy, delayed for decades, would be presented before Parliament by the end of February this year.

"It is the duty of the Health Ministry to put the national policy in practice. The lack of medicine in government hospitals is one of the consequences of non-implementation of the national drug policy," he said.
