Around 2,610 persons have been trained in cottage industries under the Divi Neguma programme up to now.
Apart from this, 1,348 persons are being trained and another 908 have been selected for training in the near future, Divi Neguma Director Jayathilake Herath said.
The Divi Neguma programme is implemented under three categories.
These categories are development of agriculture, livestock and fisheries with cottage industries.
The Economic Development Ministry has given equal priority for the three categories.
Under the development programme of cottage industries, the Economic Development Ministry is conducting exhibitions throughout the country. Ten exhibitions have been held under district levels. Exhibitions have been held in Colombo, Jaffna, Anuradhapura, Kegalle, Gampaha, Moneragala, Puttalam, Mannar, Hambantota and Ratnapura districts.
The exhibition in the Kandy district will be held at the Getambe Mahanama Vidyalaya on March 17 and 18
